BuckTuned LLC Pre-Dyno Checklist
-
Fluids topped up? (Coolant and Oil) Make sure they are CLEAN and not overfull.
-
Fuel tank full? Make sure the octane we are tuning on is what you are going to run in your motorcycle long term!
-
Spark Plugs in good condition and gapped properly?
-
Have required TTS hardware for your ECM, or be prepared to buy from BuckTuned in house.
-
No leaks! If your bike starts leaking on the dyno, we are not running it until the problem is resolved. Fluid and especially oil can and will get on the drum or surface of dyno and get messy, making it lose traction. Or worse, if it is not cleaned up promptly and it gets on your tires, you can drop your bike when you leave.
-
KNOW YOUR MODIFICATIONS! If your bike is modified, please let me know all parts as these are very important and helps me as a tuner to streamline your calibration. For example, Cams, Exhaust, Air cleaner, Injectors, Throttle Body, Any motor work done. Modifications are required to be written on the Dyno Release Form for BuckTuned you will sign.
-
Battery holding a solid charge?
-
Tire pressure adequate? I aim for 40 psi in the rear tire as this will be on the drum. I will check this before every tune, but helps me along if you have this done prior.
-
Any play in clutch cable?
-
SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES. On Twin Cam HDs, the ECM uses Ion Sensing, which detects abnormal levels of energy across 2 or 3 spark plug firings to pinpoint abnormal combustion, and allows the ECM to retard timing. It is paramount that you have stock HD plugs and wires on your bike, and not aftermarket wires, as these will hinder the ion sensing system!
-
It is EXTREMELY preferred that you have stock HD injectors installed on your motorcycle, as aftermarket injectors have different spray patterns and will impact fuel delivery. This is not ideal for tuning!
-
Chain or belt drive in good condition and properly adjusted? Lubricated?
-
No intake or exhaust leaks that you know about?
This may sound like a lot, but if you are looking to get your bike dyno tuned, then I assume you care about your motorcycle! Having these things checked and done BEFORE you get to the dyno assures that we are able to have your bike tuned in an orderly fashion. Maybe more importantly, it also assures YOU, (The Customer) will not incur any other charges for having BuckTuned fix issues that prevent us from tuning your motorcycle on the dyno. Just know that any mechanical, electrical, fueling, or other issues will completely prevent us from tuning your motorcycle until the issue is resolved, and YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR IT.
